Bawumia denies knowledge of 2020 campaign posters

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has issued a statement to rubbish a story suggesting that his 2020 campaign posters have popped up in Tamale. It was reported by some online portals that presidential campaign posters of Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have surfaced in Tamale, the Northern Regional capital.

According to the story, the posters with portrait of the Vice President in smock designed with the party’s emblem have been posted at vantage locations within the ancient town.

Inscription on the posters reads: “Vote Bawumia for 2020. Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as flagbearer for 2020 general elections. A northern Muslim with the competency to lead NPP into election.

However, the Vice President has denied knowledge of the posters insisting that those behind have decided to cause disaffection between him and the president. ‘’It is clear that the perpetrator(s) of this act intend to cause disaffection for the Vice President but their campaign will fail.

For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state unequivocally that the posters are the figment of the imagination of the originator(s), and we call on all Ghanaians and the general public to treat the poster campaign with the contempt it deserves,’’ the statement said.

Press Release The attention of the Office of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has been drawn to posters purporting to indicate that H.E. Dr Bawumia has begun a campaign to lead the New Patriotic Party into the 2020 elections.

It is clear that the perpetrator(s) of this act intend to cause disaffection for the Vice President but their campaign will fail. For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state unequivocally that the posters are the figment of the imagination of the originator(s), and we call on all Ghanaians and the general public to treat the poster campaign with the contempt it deserves.
