Three children escaped being crushed to death in Aburi yesterday when a private Toyota Corolla with registration no. GC 210-10 travelling from Koforidua to Accra lost control and veered to the opposite lane.
The victims, identified as Richmond Amoako Okine 4yrs, Ransford Baah 5yrs and Prince Okata Ntow 3yrs, were on their way to school when they were knocked down. The driver was said to have lost control when the break of the car failed.
They sustained various degrees of injuries and rushed to Tetteh Quarshie Hospital, Mampong Akuapem for treatment.
The 3-year-old Prince Okata Ntow died on arrival at the hospital whilst the other two were treated and discharged.
The body of the deceased 3-year-old has since been sent the morgue for autopsy. Meanwhile, suspect driver Mendy Agyekum Boateng had reported himself at the Police station and has detained to assist investigation while the vehicle impounded.
The case has been adjourned to reappear on the 23 Feb at the Koforidua circuit court ‘b’ presided by Her Honour Mercy Addei Kotei.
