The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu has stated emphatically that the appointed Special Prosecutor, Mr. Martin A.B.K Amidu does not belong to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The appointment of Martin Alamisi Burnes Keizer Amidu as Special Prosecutor came as a surprise to most Ghanaians including former President John Dramani Mahama, who had hinted that the appointment will go for a member of the ruling NPP.
Mr. Amidu, a man who has earned the nickname ‘Citizen Vigilante’ for his no-nonsense stance and campaign against corruption particularly in the NDC administration and a former Attorney General under late Attah Mills’ administration, was named by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday, after an emergency cabinet meeting at the Flagstaff House.
Antony Nukpenu reacting to the nomination said he does not regard Mr. Amidu as a member of the NDC. He said Mr. Amidu has not paid his monthly dues to the party for the past 13 years and does not qualify to be a member of the party.
“As far as am concern, he (Martin Amidu) is not a member of the party….the last time I checked he had not made a single payment of monthly dues to the party….our constitution spells it clearly that any member who defaults in paying his/her monthly dues for continues period of two years automatically seizes to be a member of the party” he stated on Accra based Adom FM.
